Your DESTINY is Not WRITTEN in the Stars

Why Christians Should Reject Astrology, Zodiac Signs, Horoscopes, and Soothsayers

IN EVERY generation, people long to know who they are and what the future holds. That desire is understandable—but where we seek those answers makes all the difference.

Today, millions search for identity through personality tests, social media labels, or astrological signs. It has become common to hear people say, "I'm a Virgo," "I'm a Scorpio," "I'm a Libra," or "I'm a Taurus," as though the position of the stars at birth explains their character, relationships, or destiny.

But Scripture calls God's people to reject such thinking.

The Bible never teaches that our lives are governed by zodiac constellations. Instead, it declares that the stars are part of God's magnificent creation, designed to display His glory—not to rule humanity or reveal our future.

"The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament shows His handiwork" (Psalm 19:1, NKJV).

The stars point us to the Creator. They were never intended to replace Him.

From the beginning, God repeatedly warned Israel against seeking guidance through astrology, divination, fortune-telling, omens, or spiritistic practices. Deuteronomy 18:10–12 condemns divination, sorcery, interpreting omens, consulting mediums, and every form of occult guidance, calling such practices "an abomination to the LORD." Likewise, Leviticus 19:26, 31 commands God's people not to practice divination or seek mediums, while Jeremiah 10:2 says, "Do not learn the way of the Gentiles... Do not be dismayed at the signs of heaven."

Even more directly, God mocked the astrologers of Babylon:

"Let now the astrologers, the stargazers, and the monthly prognosticators stand up and save you... Behold, they shall be as stubble..." (Isaiah 47:13–15).

The message is unmistakable. No constellation can predict what only the sovereign God controls.

Some defend horoscopes as harmless entertainment. Yet astrology subtly shifts trust away from God. Instead of praying for wisdom, people consult daily forecasts. Instead of seeking God's will, they seek favorable alignments of planets and stars. What begins as curiosity can gradually become misplaced dependence.

The Bible teaches that believers are to "walk by faith, not by sight" (2 Corinthians 5:7). Our decisions are to be shaped by God's Word, the guidance of His Holy Spirit, and earnest prayer—not by horoscopes or zodiac predictions. James 1:5 promises that God freely gives wisdom to those who ask Him. Why seek uncertain answers from created things when the Creator Himself invites us to come to Him?

Your birth date does not determine your character. Your zodiac sign does not define your personality. The planets do not control your future. God alone is Lord over history, nations, and every human life.

The Lord speaks personally to His people:

"Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; You are Mine" (Isaiah 43:1).

Notice the contrast. The world identifies people by zodiac symbols. God identifies His children by name.

If you belong to Christ, your identity is not "Leo," "Capricorn," or "Sagittarius." You are a child of God (John 1:12), a new creation (2 Corinthians 5:17), chosen and holy (1 Peter 2:9), forgiven (Ephesians 1:7), and an heir of God's Kingdom (Romans 8:16–17).

Those are identities no horoscope could ever give.

Do not allow your future to be dictated by the stars when your life is held securely in the hands of the One who created them. The God who calls every star by name (Isaiah 40:26) also knows your name, your purpose, and your eternal destiny.

Reject astrology. Turn away from horoscopes and soothsayers. Seek the Lord with all your heart, trust His unfailing Word, and let His truth—not the zodiac—shape your life.

Your destiny is not written in the stars. It is safely held in the hands of the Creator of the stars.—Rh.
